Ringwood Athletic Club

The Open Australian Championships were held in Sydney from Thursday March 31st to Sunday April 3rd.  The Club were again well represented at the highest level with five athletes competing in five finals and producing one Australian Champion and three Club Records.

Gary Haasbroek continued his excellent Decathalon form winning the U18 National title in a new Club Record of 6752 points.  Gary's Pole Vault height of 4.10m will also be a new U18 Pole Vault record.  Tom Fawthorpe provided the dare and excitement with a front running effort in the final of the 1500m.  Unfortunately a first lap of a low 56 took its toll at the end of the race with Tom coming 15th in a 3:47.90 it also cooked most of the field.
